THE HELPFUL COMPARISON OF SCREEN/SHEER, LIGHT FILTERING AND BLACKOUT FABRIC
SCREEN/SHEER FABRIC
Screen fabric allows the maximum amount of light to filter into the room while still maintaining a level of privacy. Used for when a partial view is required while the blind is deployed.
LIGHT FILTERING FABRIC
Light Filtering fabric provides an element of privacy when deployed where silhouettes are still visible. Light Filtering fabrics do not provide darkness and the amount of restricted light differs depending on a fabrics composition and colour.
BLACKOUT FABRIC
Blackout fabric has the maximum blockage of light with ‘no silhouettes visible’ privacy, improved thermal efficiency and helps reduce noise entering the room when the fabric is deployed. This fabric features 0% light transmission, determined by how well it absorbs or reflects light, but that doesn’t mean zero light spots. If installed with a standard system within the recess, the blackout fabric can still produce a ‘halo effect’ at the edges. To prevent this use the Louvolite Blockout Frame which aims to provide the most darkness.
